The African woman’s hair is very important because it is not only a prized possession, it could also be styled in different ways to  symbolise religious attributes, marital status or even indicate age. Our kinky hair is very versatile as it could be styled in so many ways.

Here are some ways to show love to and take proper care of our hair (relaxed or natural).

1.Eat Healthily: Eating a well-balanced diet will go a long way for your hair, also excess water consumption can help prevent hair breakage. You are what you eat and whatever you consume has a direct effect on your body. So keep your hair healthy by eating properly. Foods such as  eggs, berries nuts and seeds have been known to promote hair growth

2. Detangle: To avoid breakage when detangling, run your fingers through your hair and then carefully detangle with a wide-tooth comb.

3.Condition: We all know how important this is for either natural or relaxed hair. Conditioners help hydrate your hair follicles thereby strengthening your hair at the same time.

4. Moisturize: Treat your hair to some deep moisture with natural oils such as coconut oil, castor oil, and extra virgin olive oil. These oils help to renew the oils stripped from the hair by sulfate shampoos.

5. Avoid Heat: When drying or curling your hair, try as much as possible to use less heat. You can achieve that by letting your hair dry naturally or avoid using blow dryers, flat/curling irons less frequently.

6.Trim Regularly: Trim your hair at least every month to get rid of split ends and improve hair growth.
